
Sardine / Mackarel and Cheese Bake Recipe

2 cups Rice cooked
425g Sardines / Mackarel
1 Onion chopped
1 Tomato sliced
Salt & Pepper to Taste
2 Eggs
1 cup Milk
1 tsp Bazil
1/2 cup Cheese grated
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C and prepare a 20 cm ovenproof dish.
- Spread 2 cups cooked rice evenly over the bottom of the dish.
- Break 425 g sardines or mackerel into large pieces and arrange on top of the rice.
- Pour the sauce from the fish evenly over the fish layer.
- Add a layer of 1 chopped onion, followed by a layer of 1 sliced tomato.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- In a bowl, whisk together 2 eggs, 1 cup milk, and 1 tsp basil.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the fish and rice layers.
- Sprinkle 1/2 cup grated cheese over the top.
- Bake for 45 minutes, or until set and lightly golden on top.
- Serve hot with a fresh salad.
