Cheesy Broccoli and Bacon Casserole Recipe

This cheesy broccoli casserole is a comforting side dish for any occasion. The bacon, leek and cheese gives it lost of flavor. 

  • 1 1/2 cup Broccoli
  • 1 Leek
  • 4 rashers Bacon (streaky)
  • 1 cup Cheese (grated)
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Cheese Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Margarine
  • 1 1/4 cup Milk
  • 3 tbsp Flour
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  1. Cut broccoli into smaller pieces. 

  2. Boil for 2 minutes.

  3. Put into a casserole dish.

  4. Slice leek and dice bacon.

  5. Fry in 2 tablespoons cooking oil.

  6. Sprinkle over broccoli.

Cheese Sauce

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

  2. Melt margarine over low heat.

  3. Stir flour, salt and pepper into margarine.

  4. Add milk bit by bit stirring all the time until smooth. 

  5. Boil for 2 minutes. 

  6. Add ½ cup cheese and stir until melted.

  7. Pour sauce over broccoli. 

  8. Sprinkle rest of cheese over the top.

  9. Bake 25 minutes or until light brown on top.
