Orange Cake Recipe

The fresh orange juice gives this cake a lovely flavor. Serve it with cream. It will be a winner at your next tea party.

Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 3 tbls Butter

Syrup

  • 1/2 cup Boiling Water
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp Orange Rind grated
  • 1 tbls Butter

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 180ºC.
  • Beat sugar and eggs together.
  • Sift dry ingredients and add to sugar mixture.
  • Heat milk and butter add to flour mixture. 
  • Mix well. 
  • Pour into a pie dish. 
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes. 

Syrup

  • Mix all the ingredients in a sauce pan.
  • Boil for 5 minutes, pour over tart as soon as it comes out of the oven.
