
Cheese Scone Recipe
Golden, cheesy and wonderfully soft, these cheese scones are perfect served warm with a smear of butter. Ideal for a quick snack or to accompany soup.

Ingredients
2 cups Flour
4 tsp Baking Powder
1 tsp Salt
2 tbls Butter
1/4 cup Cheese
1 cup Milk / Water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C.
- Sift 2 cups flour, 4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt together.
- Rub 2 tablespoons butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
- Add 1/4 cup cheese and cut in 1 cup milk or water with a knife until a dough forms.
- Sprinkle flour on your work surface and roll the dough out to about 1 1/2 cm thick.
- Cut into rounds and place on a baking tray.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until risen and lightly golden.
Hints & Tips
- Extra cheesy – Sprinkle a little extra grated cheese on top before baking for a golden, cheesy crust.
- Serve warm – These scones are best enjoyed fresh from the oven with butter and strawberry jam. You can also add grated cheese when serving.
- Don’t overmix – Overmixing can make scones tough, so work the dough lightly.
