Ingredients
1/2 Onion grated
500g Beef Mince
3 tsp Parsley
1 tsp Barbeque Spice
Salt & Black Pepper to taste
250g Streaky Bacon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C.
- In a large bowl, combine 1/2 grated onion with 500g beef mince.
- Add 3 tsp parsley, 1 tsp barbeque spice, and salt & black pepper to taste. Mix lightly until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into slightly elongated balls.
- Wrap half a rasher of streaky bacon around each meatball.
- Thread the bacon-wrapped meatballs onto kebab sticks or secure each with a toothpick.
- Bake in the oven for 40 minutes, or cook over moderate coals until done.
- Serve hot with a barbeque jerk sauce.
Hints & Tips
- Don’t overmix the mince – Mixing too much can make the kebabs dense; combine ingredients gently for a tender texture.
- Soak wooden skewers – If using wooden kebab sticks, soak them in water for 20–30 minutes to prevent burning in the oven or on the grill.
- Crisp up the bacon – For extra-crispy bacon, finish the kebabs under the grill for the last few minutes of cooking.
- Make ahead – Shape and wrap the kebabs a few hours in advance, then refrigerate until ready to cook.
- Change the flavour – Swap barbeque spice for a Moroccan or Italian seasoning blend for a different twist.
