Bacon and Egg Tart Recipe

Crispy chips, smoky bacon, creamy egg custard, and melted cheese come together in this irresistible Bacon and Egg Tart. Perfect for brunch, lunch, or an easy family dinner.

1 pkt Salted Chips
1 cup Bacon
1 cup Cheese
2 Spring Onions
Salt & Pepper to taste
4 Eggs
2 cups Milk
1 tbsp Parsley chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. Fry 1 cup diced bacon and 2 sliced spring onions in 1 tbsp cooking oil until the bacon is golden and the onions are soft.
  3. Crush 1 packet of salted chips in the packet, then sprinkle evenly over the bottom of a pie dish.
  4. Sprinkle the cooked bacon, spring onions, and 1 cup grated cheese over the crushed chips.
  5. In a bowl, beat 4 eggs with 1 3/4 cups milk, 1 tbsp chopped parsley, and salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bacon and cheese in the pie dish.
  7. Sprinkle with extra cheese if desired.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until set and golden on top.
  9. Serve warm with a fresh salad.

  • Use thick-cut bacon – It will give a meatier bite and more flavour to the tart.
  • Don’t skip the chips – They create a delicious, salty crust that replaces the need for pastry.
  • Add vegetables – Sautéed mushrooms, capsicum, or spinach make tasty additions.
