Air Fryer Cheesy Buns
Quick, fluffy cheese buns with a crisp golden cheesy top. No yeast, no kneading and only three ingredients.
Ingredients
2 cups self-raising flour
1 cup milk
1.5 cups grated cheddar cheese, or similar
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 180°C. Use the silicone basket insert if you have one.
- Place 2 cups self-raising flour into a large bowl. Add 1 cup milk and mix until just combined.
- Add 1 cup of cheese. (Set the rest aside for later). Use your hands to gently mix until evenly incorporated. Don’t overwork the dough.
- Divide the dough into portions and gently form into balls about the size of a plum.
- If you don’t have a silicone basket insert for your air fryer, add baking / parchment paper to the bottom to prevent the buns from sticking. Place the balls into the preheated air fryer basket, leaving a little room between them. Sprinkle the reserved grated cheese over the tops.
- Air fry at 180°C for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the buns have risen and the tops are beautifully golden brown.
- Serve warm. Split the buns while they’re still hot and serve with butter so it melts straight into the soft, cheesy centre.
Hints & Tips
- These are best eaten warm from the air fryer. If you have leftovers, a few minutes back in the air fryer will freshen them up nicely.
- We like cutting them in half then adding adding apricot jam and more cheese to the center.
